About Aguad Port & Jail Complex
The Aguad Port & Jail Complex is the restored lower section of Fort Aguada at Sinquerim, on the mouth of the Mandovi. The buildings served as Goa's central jail before a โน22 crore restoration by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation, working with the Goa Heritage Action Group, and the site was inaugurated on 19 December 2021. An interactive museum on Goa's history and freedom struggle was added in October 2023. The complex now offers the museum, heritage walks, a cinema, restaurants facing the sea, and art galleries and exhibition spaces in the old barracks, and it is hired for concerts, markets and private events. Tickets are sold through the official website.
