Things to do in Morjim, Ashwem & Mandrem

North of the Chapora river, the beaches of Pernem taluka run in one long line: Morjim at the river mouth, then Ashwem, then Mandrem. Part of Morjim is a protected olive ridley turtle nesting site, so lights and loud music are restricted there in season. Ashwem has the beach clubs and resort restaurants that host sunset DJ sets and weekend parties; Mandrem is quieter, with yoga retreats and wellness programmes that run from November to March. Almost everything is seasonal and shuts for the monsoon. Mopa airport is about 25 km away, far closer than Dabolim. Public transport is thin, so hire a scooter or book a taxi.
