Things to do in Fontainhas & São Tomé
Nothing is listed for in fontainhas & são tomé yet — new events are added every morning, so check back soon.
Fontainhas is Panaji's old Latin Quarter, laid out in the late 18th century by António João de Sequeira, a Goan who made his money in Mozambique, and named after the spring at the foot of Altinho hill. Its narrow lanes of colour-washed houses with tiled roofs and wrought-iron balconies run from the Ourem creek to the Chapel of St Sebastian, built in 1818. Adjoining São Tomé has the old post office square and small taverns. Most Panaji heritage walks start here, Fundação Oriente and Gallery Gitanjali hold exhibitions and concerts, and several houses work as cafés and guesthouses. People live here: keep voices down and ask before photographing homes.
