Miramar is Panaji's city beach, about 3 km from the centre, where the Mandovi meets the Arabian Sea. Swimming is not advised, but the sand and the tree-lined promenade fill with walkers, football games and food carts every evening. The Goa Science Centre and Planetarium is on the beach road, and the Goa Marriott Resort has traditionally hosted the film market that runs alongside IFFI. Road races and triathlons use the Miramar–Dona Paula road as their course, with early-morning traffic diversions on race days. Caranzalem, along the same bay, is quieter. City buses on the Panaji–Dona Paula route stop at Miramar Circle.
