Things to do in Vasco da Gama

Vasco da Gama is Goa's port town, at the tip of the Mormugao peninsula and about 4 km from Dabolim airport. It is a working city of naval, port and railway families, and its events reflect that: football at Tilak Maidan, drama and music at Ravindra Bhavan in Baina, and the week-long Vasco Saptah at the Damodar temple each monsoon, when the main street becomes a fair. The Goa River Marathon is run from Chicalim, and the Naval Aviation Museum above Bogmalo beach is a reliable family stop. Carnival and Shigmo parades come to the town. Trains end here, and Kadamba shuttles run to Panaji and Margao.
