About Fundação Oriente, Goa
Fundação Oriente is a Portuguese cultural foundation that has had a delegation in Panaji since 1995, housed in a restored house in Fontainhas. It supports the conservation of Goa's built heritage and funds research, publications and Portuguese-language teaching, and its premises include a gallery showing the paintings of the Goan artist António Xavier Trindade. The foundation is best known to audiences for the Monte Music Festival, a weekend of Indian and Western classical music and dance held each winter at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount in Old Goa; dates for the 2027 edition had not been published when we checked in October 2026. Smaller recitals, talks and exhibitions take place at the Fontainhas house.
