About Kala Academy
Kala Academy is Goa's state academy for music, dance and drama, set up in 1970 and housed since 1983 in a riverside complex at Campal designed by Charles Correa. It holds the Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, an open-air amphitheatre, a Black Box and teaching schools, and it runs the state's tiatr and Konkani drama competitions and the Kesarbai Kerkar music festival. The building reopened in November 2023 after a long and disputed renovation, and defects kept surfacing. In July 2026 the government said repairs to the main auditorium would begin around 1 August, with only that hall closed while classes, offices and the Black Box continued. We could not confirm a reopening date, so check which hall your event is in.
