About Mapusa Municipal Market
Mapusa's municipal market is the main produce market of North Goa, open through the week and at its fullest on Fridays, when farmers and vendors from villages across Bardez and beyond set up in the lanes around the permanent stalls. It is the place to buy what Goans actually cook with: local vegetables and fruit, Goan sausages, dried fish, jaggery, kokum, cashews, spice mixes, bread, pottery and coir rope, along with clothes and plants. Unlike the tourist flea markets on the coast it runs all year. A multi-department inspection in 2026 found poor drainage and sanitation in the fish market and an overhaul is planned, but no closure has been reported.
