North of Colva the Salcete coast becomes a string of quiet villages behind one unbroken beach: Utorda, Majorda and Betalbatim. Resorts here run their own entertainment, but the public calendar is led by a few independent names. Carpe Diem in Majorda, a restored house, holds art exhibitions, classes and concerts, and family restaurants in Betalbatim and shacks at Utorda have live bands through the season. Cansaulim, a little further north, celebrates the Feast of the Three Kings on 6 January. Majorda has a railway halt, Margao is about 10 km away and Dabolim airport about 15 km. Evening buses are few, so plan a taxi back.
